So for those who have not seen the news from Creality, they are releasing a Carborundum (Silicon Carbide) Glass bed platform. Interestingly the Carborundum layer is a mere 0.15MM to help ensure a consistent and superior bed levelling experience. While remaining flat up to 400˚c.

Apparently thanks to the silicone and carbon elements of the adhesive layer. The glass will act much in the same way as PEI or other build surfaces. Once cooled the parts will be easy to remove with out the need for tools. You don’t even need to flex the bed like spring steel sheets.

Most importantly, it does this all while leaving the base of the print dimple free and producing that smooth glass bed finish intact.

Furthermore if the print retention is as good as Creality says. Then this could be a game changer for those working with glass beds. No more glue stick, no more sludge to clean up. Instead a wipe over with acetone or alcohol will do the job. Talking of cleaning, the Creality Carborundum Glass bed is said to have a scratch and dust proof coating which is always handy to have.

Yet’s hope it is as good as it sounds.

The Creality Carborundum glass bed platform is going to be available for the Creality Ender-3, CR-10S, and CR-X.

I for one am looking forward to trying out the Creality Carborundum Glass bed platform. I wonder if it can truly replace my current PEI setup on the Creality Ender 3 Pro.

While there is not a lot more information at the moment have a read of the information from the Creality Website.
